Description
If you're a lover of recoil and realism, the WELL PRO WE09 AK-12K Gas Blowback Rifle w/AK-205 Stock will definitely satisfy! Based on the latest evolution of the AK-12K, known as the AK-205, this full metal GBBR makes use of plenty of steel in its external build for a realistic feel and is internally based on the Tokyo Marui ZET system, meaning performance is on point!
Inside, the WE09 is equipped with what is known as an "NPAS" (Negative Pressure Adjustment System), aka an adjustable valve. This allows you to adjust FPS to suit your needs using an Allen key inserted through the front of the nozzle. This system works by altering the proportions of gas sent down the barrel and back into the action, meaning if you tune it to the UK's relatively low site power limits, you're recoil will be astonishing!
Also inside is a 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel, offering superb accuracy potential and an efficiency edge out of the box. If you're down with the latest Russian assault rifle designs and love the challenging GBBR playstyle, the WELL PRO WE09 AK-12K Gas Blowback Rifle w/AK-205 Stock will be an asset to your arsenal!
Starting at the tip of the 12.4-inch alloy outer barrel, we find our first AK-205 twist that this rifle possesses. This AK-12 features an AK-205 birdcage-type hybrid flash hider. This is not the usual, aggressive muzzle break you would expect to find on an AK-12 but we appreciate the refreshing inclusion of this flash hider, no accidental poking and prodding from the typical spiky muzzle break! However, if you're not a fan of this alternate muzzle attachment you can find the 14mm CCW male threading concealed beneath (don't forget to unscrew the grub screw first before attempting to remove the compensator).
The muzzle attachment is followed by a dummy bayonet lug at the bottom, which adds to the realism and keeps the gun nerds pleased. Travelling rearward along the outer barrel brings us to the front sight/gas block of this AK-12, constructed from alloy with a dummy gas adjuster at the front. The front sight post at the top is protected on either side with protective wings. This ensures that if you drop this replica rifle, it may bear some cosmetic damage, but the front sight should remain usable and intact in all but the worst-case scenario.
The gas block connects to the dummy gas tube, which is also constructed from alloy. Below the gas tube, there is a single sling point which is mounted around the barrel but can swivel to either side to reduce the chances of the sling getting tangled. This versatile sling point also allows both left and right-handed shooters to sling this AK easily. This is a nice feature as AK platforms are usually constructed without left-hand shooters in mind, so it's good to see that the AK-12 features functionality for those lesser-spotted left-hand shooters.
Following the gas tube back leads us to the high-density polymer handguards of the AK-12, which have integral 20mm Picatinny rails at the 6 and 12 o'clock positions and adjustable alloy side rails at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions. These side rails can be moved along the handguard or removed completely. Though this rifle may be Russian in origin, it can be kitted out to the nines like an MK18, with plenty of room for tactical flashlights, PEQ lasers and anything else you can think of mounting. This is a nice deviation from the standard AK rail space we are used to, A.K.A., have fun trying to find any room to mount attachments!
The HOP-up of the AK-12K is located inside the receiver, accessible with the receiver top cover, recoil spring assembly and bolt carrier removed. Adjustments are applied through the dial on the left side of the barrel base, allowing you to set the amount of backspin applied to your BBs, seeking the flattest possible trajectory. You may find a small tool makes adjustments easier, as the dial is quite out of the way. While it may not be as easily adjusted mid-firefight as an AEG, this TM-based design should ensure the HOP-up holds its setting flawlessly under the hard recoil of shooting!
Moving rearwards, we come to the realistic stamped steel receiver, mirroring the shape of the real steel AK-12 receiver perfectly, complete with reinforcement divots and mock pins and rivets in all the right places. This receiver roughly follows the standard AK design format but with some notable changes to ready the legacy AK design for the 21st century.
Firstly, the fire selector is ambidextrous and can be used without removing your hand from the pistol grip, replicating the modernised fire selector found on the real steel AK-205. This design has similarities to a standard M4 fire selector, but keeps the classic AK dust cover mech, which raises and lowers as the selector is operated. This allows the bolt carrier to fully retract when shooting to load the next round, and when you select "Safe" again, the dust cover raises and prevents dirt and debris ingress.
The receiver top cover design is another area of this AK-12 that diverges from the original design, being closely based on the modernised AK-19 top cover. It is constructed from stamped steel, just like the real thing, and features a 20mm Picatinny rail on the upper surface to allow for optical sights to be mounted using far more user-friendly Western mounting solutions. Unlike some other AKs with railed top covers, this top cover is secured at the front with a push pin and engages with the rear of the receiver using a pair of hooks, meaning any optic you have mounted can be reliably zeroed.
Removing the top cover requires the pin on the milled steel trunnion block to be pulled out from the right side, after which the top cover can be slid rearwards and off the platform. Being a GBBR, this is only necessary for routine maintenance, but thankfully, it is super easy, just like a real AK-12. When reinstalling the top cover, you must ensure that you align the pin hole in the front of the top cover with the holes in the trunnion block before pushing the steel pin back through. The top cover needs to be slid onto the receiver from the rear to connect with the two hooks at the rear of the lower receiver to hold it securely in place.
The pre-installed AK-19 pistol grip is a fantastic ergonomic improvement over the legacy AK grip, offering textured detailing on the flanks and a built-in enlarged trigger guard, ideal for gloved shooters. The grip is set at an angle that provides a comfortable wrist position when shooting with the stock collapsed fully and in modern shooting stances. The AK-19 grip also pairs perfectly with the modernised AK-205 stock, making this the most cutting-edge Russian AK build out there. AKs are not usually associated with comfort or ergonomics, so this is certainly a surprising but positive adjustment for us sensitive Westerners!
Installed on this version of the AK-12, we are treated to the AK-205 pattern stock, a modern Russian design which follows the format of SCAR, ACR and other modern multi-adjustable stocks. With the addition of an adjustable cheek rest to provide the perfect eye level when using a scope or sight, this is probably the best AK stock on the market, providing comfort and ergonomics that old-school AK users can only dream of!
Like the legacy AK-74M stock, the AK-205 stock offers side-folding functionality, allowing this AK-12 variant to fit into smaller gun bags and be transported with ease. To fold the stock, simply press the usual AK side-folder button on the rear left of the receiver and the stock can be folded and locked into place. To deploy the stock again, simply pull downwards on the metal tab that protrudes from the folding mechanism at the rear, and the stock can be extended back into position.
Thankfully, this stock is a lot easier to handle than an AK-74 stock, requiring only the folding mechanism to keep things in place instead of the protruding hook used on the AK-74. At the base of the stock on both sides, we are treated to QD sling socket inserts constructed from steel, allowing for a slick, modern QD sling setup to be mounted using QD sling swivels if you so choose. A more conventional "footman loop" sling point is also present on the stock, providing plenty of built-in sling options to suit any preference!
The AK-205 stock also offers length of pull adjustment via the lever at the toe of the stock, giving you 6 positions to choose from to compensate for bulky body armour vests or different body types. The butt plate is constructed from grippy rubber with an aggressively grooved surface, guaranteeing the stock won't slip off your shoulder during wet weather operations.
After getting some trigger time on this beast, we've been very impressed with its gas efficiency, recoil and reliability. WELL PRO kindly provided us with a sample of the full-sized AK-12 prior to release, and we've barely put it down!
Being based on the Tokyo Marui ZET system, this AK keeps on thumping even in relatively cold weather and maintains surprising accuracy for a gas-in-mag platform when fired in a controlled manner, ideal for the realism-focused skirmisher who appreciates pinpoint performance. Adding to its already efficient nature, a 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel is pre-installed, providing a slight FPS boost and further enhancing accuracy when high-quality BBs are used.
If you're working on a modern Russian loadout or simply appreciate realism and recoil in a hefty, authentic build, the WELL PRO WE09 AK-12K Gas Blowback Rifle w/AK-205 Stock will put a big smile on your face! An AK which handles like a Western design, ready for accessories with the menacing AK aesthetic, this AK-12K is ideal for the skirmisher who loves the challenging yet satisfying GBBR life!

Special Instructions
This is a Gas Blowback Rifle. GBBRs require maintenance and careful handling and we do not recommend them for new skirmishers. Things to watch out for if this is your first GBBR:
- The HOP-up adjuster for this WELL PRO GBBR is inside the receiver, on the left side of the outer barrel. It is accessible with the receiver top cover, recoil spring & guide and bolt carrier assembly removed.
- GBBRs need to be cocked before the first shot, just like a GBB pistol. It is important that you do not double-load a GBBR, as this can break the nozzle. We recommend clearing the chamber of BBs with a cleaning rod in the event that you finish firing mid-magazine.
- GBBRs generally use higher-pressure gas than GBB pistols due to the extra weight of the bolt carrier. We recommend Green Gas (NUPROL 2.0, VORSK V6, ASG Ultrair) for general use and Red Gas (NUPROL 3.0, VORSK V8) for cold weather use.
- The faster you shoot a GBBR, the less accurate it will be. This is due to pressure variance as the gas reservoir cools down. Full auto is basically for fun, and these rifles run far better when used in semi-auto mode.
- Like a GBB pistol, GBBR magazines require maintenance. We recommend leaving a small amount of gas inside the magazine when stored and not storing the magazines in a cold or damp environment. Magazine seals and valves will need lubrication and to be kept clear of dust and debris.
