Highlander STOIRM: Conquering Nevis

Highlander STOIRM: Conquering Nevis

Ben Nevis. The highest peak in all of Scotland and indeed the United Kingdom and British Isles. Something of a national pastime, over 130,000 adventurers climb the peak each year for the thrilling experience, challenge and, of course, the stunning views.

But don't let this lull you into a false sense of security. This challenge is exactly that, a challenge! And for this sort of undertaking requires a certain level of gumption, resolve and, perhaps most importantly, preparation, especially in rough weather.

Our Adventurer

Here we join our brave Adventurer, who has challenged himself to conquer the dizzying heights of Ben Nevis, in the harsh winter conditions of the Scottish peak no less! While steeling himself to undertake this task alone, he does, however, have a reliable ally at his side - his Highlander gear.

Highlander understand the necessity for preparation and our Adventurer has kitted himself out with some of the finest gear they have to offer, ensuring that his journey will be a safe and enjoyable venture. He has no extraneous worrying, regarding his clothing or backpack, as his clothing is ready for any harsh weather Scotland's peak can throw at him and his bag is as reliable and functional as needed for the journey ahead.

Ready for the climb
Sporting a full set of Highlander clothing, our Adventurer is confident in his ascent as Highlander gear is some of the toughest and warmest you can get. This includes his walking gaiters, which is constructed from 600D XTP Ripstop fabric, which are tough, yet flexible and comfortable, as well as being extremely water-resistant, to weather the Scottish winter.

Highlander clothing bridges the gap between functionality and comfort, being tough, versatile, durable, and breathable

While the robust clothing is, of course, necessary to make the climb, it is not the only thing that our Adventurer requires and indeed has come equipped with an additional asset.

The real companion taht will assist him on the journey is the backpack he carries.

The STOIRM Tactical Backpack, is the perfect partner for braving the Scottish peak and indeed many other hiking challenges. Our Adventurer here is kept equipped on the move, with a huge full clamshell main compartment, full MOLLE and Velcro backed front compartments and a hardened uppermost compartment, all double zipped.

STOIRM backpack
As our adventurer travels higher up Ben Nevis, he is glad that the weather has remained relatively clear, however, he is also safe in the knowledge that if the weather were to turn a little sour with a strong wind or precipitation, his trusty goggles are held firm in the top exterior zip compartment.

Being constructed from Tricot material, the top compartment has a semi-hard case function, so that his goggles, being relatively delicate are kept safe and sound, as well as snug as the interior of the compartment features a soft lining to avoid scratching. A pouch like this is also perfect for storing other delicate items you still need to keep handy on a long trail such as phones or GPS devices.

Pockets and zips
The main compartment features a full clamshell design instead of a traditional top-loading entry. This design allows you to flip the compartment open to get a good look at all your gear and easily grab what you need at a glance. It is secured with a glove-friendly double zip that keeps the compartment held tight and allows access at your preferred access point around the bag.

Inside the main compartment are two rear-facing, mesh zip pockets. The zips are vibrant bright orange in colour, which seems like a minor detail but this adds visibility so you can more easily access the pockets in low light conditions.

Huge storage for essentials
Our adventurer knows the importance of making sure every necessary type of travel equipment is packed for the journey, such as a First Aid kit, water, provisions and compass etc.

Although our Adventurer is the safety conscious type and has packed accordingly, he also knows the sheer enjoyment of the experience of traversing a peak as magnificent as Ben Nevis.

Fortunately, the STOIRM backpack has enough space and depth to accommodate items such as cameras to catalogue the journey. The snowy climate may make the journey a little more challenging, but ever that much more rewarding!

The STOIRM backpack is one that is ready for any occasion, with options and customisation to facilitate a variety of equipment, that boasts a superior level of organisation, security and economic use of space. All of this comes together in a sleek modern package that is ready for anything.

Ben Nevis' peak

Finally our Adventurer has reached the highest peak and the weather has kept clear enough for him to enjoy the spectacular views, now bathed in the afternoon sun. It's some ways back down but for the moment he is content observing the landscape around him, the landscape he has conquered. And if the weather should turn on his descent back down, him and his backpack are confident that they can weather any STOIRM!
