Evolution E017 Gen.3 Polymer GBB Pistol w/ Carry Case

Evolution has gone back to basics with this one, but sometimes that's exactly what you need. The E017 is the Gen.3, known the world over, that has appeared in countless skirmishes and movies alike. With its effortless angular design, this is a no-frills pistol that gets the job done and gets it done well, with this sidearm coming included with a 24 round magazine and a handy carry case to complete the package.

The pistol is constructed mostly from polymer, which can be a turn-off for some Airsofters, but the E017 will be sure to convince you otherwise. There are a multitude of reasons where a polymer slide trumps an alloy. Firstly it is ultra-lightweight, meaning you can rapid fire like an absolute fiend, hitting as many marks as you can aim or eliminating several hostiles with immediate effect. Another advantage of a polymer pistol, specifically the slide, is that it functions a lot more effectively in the cold, as the slide is lighter and requires less gas to cycle. Alloy slide users will tell you otherwise but polymer pistols such as the E017 are more consistent, shot to shot, which means you can be more confident in your accuracy due to less kickback, meaning your shots will always shoot straight and true without spraying every which way.

Starting at the front of the pistol, we have the alloy barrel that sports a 12mm CW female thread at the tip, allowing tracer units, suppressors and other muzzle devices to be added with a 11mm to 14mm clockwise thread adapter.

Over on the right-hand side of the slide, we can see the mock ejection port, through which we get a glimpse of the outer barrel,. For added realism, the rear of the ejection port showcases a mock extractor and while it serves no real function on an Airsoft GBB, but it adds a little aesthetic style seeing it moulded to more faithfully simulate the real world original.

Classic and reliable, the E017 sports EU series white dot and U style ironsights, which are simple but effective. Especially so, as unlike 3 dot ironsights, you cannot mix up the single dot and U, meaning you always know which is your front and rear sight, allowing for quick draw aiming and more accurate shots under pressure.

The EU17 showcases a 20mm Picatinny pistol rail on the dust cover, which allows for the mounting of pistol torches, lasers and other 20mm Picatinny accessories for those of you that fancy a bit more of a spec-ops style pistol. On the rail itself, we can see the serial number plate, which is also finished in black. This plate doubles as a trigger lock safety, primarily for transportation, and can be pushed backwards to engage, or forwards to release.

In terms of safety this pistol follows many others of the same model with a serial number plate that doubles as a trigger lock, which is great for transportation and peace of mind. The trigger itself has what is known as a two-stage safety trigger, meaning that that is small spring lever within the centre of the trigger. This gives you some tactile feedback before you pull and take those all important shots. Another advantage of this style of trigger is that there is no safety to unlock before shooting, meaning that you can quickly draw and take your shot without any delay.

Being a Gen.3 model, the E017 sports a textured and finger-ridged grip, which has fantastic ergonomics for hands of all sizes. The sides feature a stippled texture, with the front and back featuring a diamond raised pattern to ensure the pistol is always firmly in your grasp with no slippage. To top it off the pistol sports a thumb indentation on the left hand side so you can comfortably rest your thumb until its ready to actuate the mag release.

Coming Included in the package is a 24-round green gas magazine filled at the lower front of the mag with a speed loader when the follower is down. If you're worried about mag compatibility, fear not! The E017 has been tested with Raven and WE brand mags, as well as Tokyo Marui and in all cases, the E017 functions absolutely perfectly with no feeding or gas anomalies to be seen. In addition, the E017 comes included with a handy dandy polymer carry case with foam interior, which is great inclusion to complete the package and also makes this a great purchase for beginners looking for a well-rounded kit.

The E017 makes for a perfect sidearm for any Airsoft skirmisher looking for a reliable and efficient backup gun, or if you're a new player, this makes for a fantastic starter pistol, as the included carry case gives you everything you need to get started - just add gas and BBs and go! The polymer slide is a nice addition for those of you who value gas efficiency, rapid cycle speed, in addition to improved reliability in cold conditions.
