  • 6.03mm Tightbore inner barrel
  • 14mm CCW Male threaded barrel - Ready for a tracer
  • Built-in rail riser - Great for full face protection users

If you are looking for a lightweight, player-focused M4 platform, the LT-02C from Lancer Tactical is exactly that. Based on the real steel M4A1 Carbine but configured for close quarters, the LT-02C is rocking a 10.5-inch outer barrel, ideal for both CQB and outdoor skirmishes.

The LT-02C is constructed primarily from high density polymer, meaning it is considerably faster to point than a full metal equivalent and more scratch-resistant. Inside, you will find a respectable complement of pre-upgraded internals, including a 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel, a rotary HOP-up unit, low-resistance wiring and a reinforced version 2 gearbox with full Tokyo Marui compatibility. Whether you are fresh to the sport or an experienced player looking for a lightweight and reliable backup, the LT-02C will serve you well!

Description

The LT-02C replicates an M4A1 in close quarters battle configuration, equipped with a RAS II style quad rail system with a built-in rail riser. Fitted with the "CQBR" 10.5-inch outer barrel, the LT-02C is a great all-rounder and the perfect Airsoft AEG for beginners, especially those with a run-and-gun play style!

On the outside, the LT-02C is constructed with a polymer receiver and buffer tube, with an alloy outer barrel to provide strength where needed. This combination of low weight, scratch resistance and strength make the LT-02C a fine choice for the skirmisher who wants a rock-solid beater of an AEG, or those looking for a forgiving entry-level AEG which doesn't compromise on performance.

At the tip of the 10.5-inch outer barrel, we can find a birdcage flash hider which gives the LT-02C its realistic looks, matching well with the majority of M4 rifles issued to militaries and PMCs around the world. Beneath the flash hider, we can find 14mm CCW male threads, meaning you can attach a tracer unit or suppressor if you want to lean into the sneaky look or give your rifle the intimidation factor of a tracer unit for CQB or low-light work.

Following the flash hider we come to the M4A1 style triangular front sight post, which houses the front sight and mock bayonet lug. The bayonet lug is compatible with Airsoft M16 bayonets but the short barrel length means one cannot be installed on the LT-02C without a barrel extension. This is a shame for the more bloodthirsty Airsofters out there but is realistic for a short-barreled M4 wherein you are much better off shooting the enemy up close than going in for a melee kill. The front sight is adjustable for elevation using an M4/AR-15 front sight adjustment tool, and for less precise work up close it can be used as an index point for rapid aiming when there is no time to align the sights.

The handguard of the LT-02C is a close reproduction of the KAC RAS II quad rail system, and provides 20mm Picatinny rails at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock positions and a rail riser on top which bridges the gap between the receiver and handguard. This rail riser is great for those who wear a full face mask when skirmishing, as it gives you a small amount of extra height on your optic to give you a more natural shooting position. The riser also functions to provide additional rigidity in the design and absolutely eliminates handguard rotational movement which may otherwise happen over time with the delta ring attachment method.

The plethora of available rail space on the front end of the LT-02C means you can add practically any accessories you need to complete your mission, including PEQ laser units, red dot and telescopic sights, vertical and angled foregrips and even an M203 grenade launcher! The modularity of the M4 platform is easily its best feature, and it is no surprise that it gained the nickname "Barbie for men" around the time the first RAS rail system became common. This modularity also extends to exchanging external parts, and with an M4/AR-15 armourers wrench, you can change the entire front set of the LT-02C and make it look like practically any M4/AR-15 variant out there.

Moving rearward we reach the receiver, which is a familiar M4/AR-15 layout and is constructed from high density polymer with a matt black finish. The fire selector is located on the left side of the AEG and sits directly above the pistol grip to provide fast and easy access for right-handed shooters. The fire selector has a 90-degree throw between modes, making it quick to operate but not too easy to accidentally knock it and end up in the wrong fire mode. Each fire mode is indicated with recessed markings reading SAFE-SEMI-AUTO.

At the centre of the left side of the receiver, we can find a dummy bolt release catch which doesn't have a function in an Airsoft AEG but is included to keep the externals looking realistic. The bolt release is a separate part which is a nice touch to avoid the tell-tale signs that this is an Airsoft gun and not the real deal. Over on the right side of the receiver, we can see what is known as the forward assist button, located on the upper receiver behind the mock shell deflector. This button also has no function but serves to force the real M4/AR-15 bolt carrier into battery if it fails to close due to dirt ingress. The button can be pressed and is a separate part, showing that Lancer Tactical wants us to have the realistic looks we deserve!

The magazine release is on the right side of the magazine well and is ideally positioned to be pressed with the trigger finger from a firing grip for right-handed users. Left-handed users can use their support hand thumb to press the release, and this can be done quite fast with a little practice. The surface of the mag release is textured to provide the necessary gripping qualities, and is protected from accidental presses by the "magwell fence", a raised protrusion in the receiver which stops the mag release from catching on your gear as you move.

The adjustable HOP-up unit is located inside the mock ejection port over on the right side of the upper receiver. This device allows you to adjust the amount of backspin applied to your BBs and tune the LT-02C for your ammo weight of choice, looking for the flattest possible trajectory. The Rotary HOP-up adjuster can be accessed by holding the charging handle back, after which the dust cover will spring open and the mock bolt plate will retract. The rotary HOP-up design is known as the latest and greatest for M4 AEGs, and it is always nice to see up-to-date internal parts, even in reasonably priced platforms like this.

The pistol grip of the LT-02C is an "A2" style finger-rigged grip with checkering on either side for extra grip, ensuring the rifle doesn't slip out of your hands during an energetic sprint in wet conditions. This grip is a comfortable size for most hand types and is effective with or without gloves. The trigger guard is a standard M4/AR15 flat type but can be swapped for aftermarket M4/AR15 AEG trigger guards if you prefer a different look.

Following the receiver, we reach the AR buffer tube, which is a common part found on the vast majority of M4/AR15 AEGs. This buffer tube is constructed from the same tough high density polymer as the receiver and provides 6 positions of adjustment, enough to suit any body type or loadout. The buffer tube system allows you to swap your stock out for any aftermarket M4/AR-15 stock simply and quickly, so if you get tired of the looks of the LT-02C in the future, swapping out the stock can freshen 'er up!

The stock is a Crane enhanced carbine style stock, which is a close copy of the stocks issued with the M4A1 as part of the SOPMOD block 1 upgrade. This stock has since become commonplace on Airsoft M4s due to its enhanced angled cheekpiece providing space for a battery but is generally a more comfortable alternative to the legacy Colt "LE" stock.

The stock can be adjusted by holding the adjustment lever down and pulling the stock out to the desired length. The adjustment lever is located on the bottom of the stock and has texture on its surface for effective wet weather use, and the butt plate is rubberised to allow for effective use with bulky tactical gear such as a plate carrier or body armour vest.

The battery compartment is located within the crane stock or inside the buffer tube itself, depending on your choice of battery configuration. The battery compartment can be accessed by lifting the stock adjustment lever, pulling it out as far as it will go, and then sliding the stock off the buffer tube to the rear. This will allow you to fit a buffer tube style stick battery, and there is room inside for up to a 7.4V 1300mAh LiPo battery.

Alternatively, you can remove the butt plate by squeezing the two tabs at the toe of the stock together, after which you can lift the butt plate off, remove the battery plug, and make use of the stock's built-in battery compartment to house a nunchuck/crane style battery. For the LT-02C, we recommend a 7.4V 1300mAh LiPo stick battery or a 7.4V 1300mAh LiPo crane/nunchuck battery but you can also make use of a 9.6V 1600mAh NiMH for extra capacity, though this will only fit in the stock battery compartment and will not fit in the buffer tube.

Inside the LT-02C you will find a few choice pre-upgraded parts, which is always nice to see in such an affordable AEG. The inner barrel is a 6.03mm tightbore, meaning improved accuracy potential and a slightly higher FPS using the same spring thanks to improvements in air efficiency. The HOP-up unit is a rotary style unit which is the most recent design for the M4, benefitting over the older gear HOP-up unit with its improved ability to hold its setting under the vibrations of full auto fire and ability to be adjusted in finer increments. The internal wiring is also low-resistance wiring, meaning you will get a nice snappy trigger response and maximum performance from your chosen battery.

Whether you are new to Airsoft and looking to get going with a respectable platform or you are a veteran looking for a lightweight backup or a basegun for your next build, the LT-02C will do the job, and do it well. Full TM compatibility means you are future-proofed for any future upgrades you plan to install but as it comes, the LT-02C is remarkably effective, with plenty of customisation options thanks to its plethora of 20mm rails and threaded barrel!
