Description

This style of rifle is quickly becoming an absolute mainstay, but what the SR4 ST Falcon-W AR-9 AEG has over most other offerings is the ability to switch between using 9mm and STANAG magazines depending on your mood or playstyle using a simple adaptor. Built for intense and fast-paced CQB skirmishes, the Falcon is as light as a feather thanks to its full polymer construction, keeping you light on your feet, bombastic, thanks to the load muzzle device with plenty of room for customisation, thanks to its M-LOK rails system and included 20mm RIS rail attachments.

Beginning with the front of the rifle, surrounding the 8-inch inner barrel, we have the sound-enhancing muzzle device. This is for those of you that like to scare the living daylights out of your opponents when you flank them with a hefty 'crack' from each and every shot! Below the handguard, the Falcon features a QD sling point, to which you can attach a sling of your choosing and even use it in tandem with one of the two rear QD sling points if you prefer using a two-point sling.

Above the handguard is a 20mm RIS rail that runs along the extent of the handguard and upper receiver in a monolithic style, to which are attached the included flip-up and light-enhancing aperture sights for superior vision when aiming. The rear sight boasts a rotary drum adjustment to allow you to adjust on the fly and always hit your mark. These sights can always be removed at your choosing if you want to opt for alternate sights or tactical attachments.

Moving on to the receiver the first thing we can see is the stylish SRC branded logo in keeping with the sleek, modern look. Of course one of the main draws to this rifle is the STANAG to 9mm magwell converter. This attachment allows you to use compatible 9mm SMG-style magazines which is a hugely popular configuration right now, in part due to giving you the extra option of easily using your mag as a foregrip. The converter has a STANAG head which clips into the magwell and is removed much like an M4 Mag - by pushing the mag release button. This means that if your 9mm magazines are empty you can immediately decouple the adaptor and switch to your STANAG magazines keeping you in the fight longer. It may even throw off your opponents if they think you've run out of ammo when your 9mm mags run dry when you know this is not the case!

Above the magwell is the mock bolt release and while it does not serve any function in this Airsoft replica, it completes the look of the Falcon. The pistol grip is an improvement over the average rifle and SMG grips in that it has a textured, finger-ridged design, giving you comfort and control that will never leave your hands in the heat of battle and is useable with or without gloves. Noticeably the grip also sports a thumb indentation, letting your thumb sit more comfortably against the grip when held.

The Falcon features an ambidextrous charging handle, which is fully functional for that satisfying snap when pulled during gameplay and also reveals the HOP adjuster. To access the rotary HOP-up adjuster of the Falcon you will need to pull the charging handle to the rear which will open the dust cover and retract the mock bolt, presenting the HOP-up adjuster on the right side. The charging handle is located at the top rear of the receiver, and is an ambidextrous design, allowing left or right-handed users to access the HOP-up instinctively, with no funny body mechanics involved. The rotary HOP-up unit is the current best design out there for the M4 platform, and is a worthy include in the Falcon.

At the very rear of the rifle is the A frame stock, which is a familiar but redesigned departure of the classic M4 stock. The A frame open design of the stock ensures you are less likely to snag when manoeuvring through those tight CQB environments.

The stock is easily adjusted with a push of the underside button. Extending the stock reveals the battery compartment, accessed by squeezing the two points either side and removing the cover. Because this rifle has been designed to be as economic with space as possible for tight situations the compartment is as small as can be. As such we would recommend a LiPo crane stock battery with a Mini-Tamiya connector such as the VP Racing 7.4v 2000mAh Crane Stock Battery.

Internally the Falcon contains a wealth of modern Airsoft components to keep up with today's increasingly intense competition. It features a 6.05mm tightbore barrel and reinforced gearbox with a quick-change spring system. The steel 8mm bearings provide reduced friction when firing for smooth, buttery smooth action. The Falcon also showcases high-speed 22:1 CNC gears, along with an aluminium cylinder head with a double O-ring for better air seal, as well as a high torque motor.

The ability to pick and choose between 9mm and STANAG mags any time during battle is a huge advantage of this rifle and all this functionality comes right out of the box! The SR4 ST Falcon-W AR-9 AEG is expertly crafted to give you next-level performance in CQB skirmishes thanks to its incredibly compact design and lightweight build. So for all you operator and convert ops types out there, the Falcon has a superior look and functionality that sets it apart from the competition!
