Product Showcase: ASG Steyr Scout

The Steyr Scout is an ergonomic, do-it-all rifle packed with features and assets that make this rifle a go-to for the light-on-their-feet marksman. The Scout Rifle designed by Jeff Cooper presents itself in a compact and easy to handle design, rocking in at just under a meter in length with a lightweight barrel, reinforced polymer body and cleverly featured ergonomic enhancements to make for a great handling experience. The Scout Sniper has certainly gained an array of mixed opinions surrounding the looks/practicality thanks to a heavy amount of features in video games, from striking counters when you get AWP'ed on mid to admiring the colours of six rainbows, the Steyr Scout has seen a plethora of features and showcases digitally, and now thanks to ASG you can get your hands on one for yourself!

The externals of the airsoft rifle sure are deserving of a good "oooo". The body is constructed from a tough and sturdy polymer that comes available in either a charcoal black or a lovely blue-tinted Grey, so whether you're a Covert Ops Plinker or an Urban Grey Operator there's a Steyr Scout to suit your set up.

Versatile & Dependable

The Steyr Scout presents itself with a very modern and stylish appearance, featuring a slick, curvaceous and smooth overall shape all while barely scraping the average M4 length, it's the perfect go-to rifle for the marksman looking for a quick throw into the shoulder platform. The Scout features several ergonomic enhancements that make for easy handling, such as the extended shotgun-style pistol grip allowing for an easy wrap-around while having full access to your fire controls, a weight-saving fluted outer barrel, a super lightweight polymer construction as well as modular/adjustable rubber recoil pads, which you can add/remove according to your size & stature.

One of the more eyebrow-raising features of the scout would be the 20mm optic mount, position a good way forward in comparison to your regular sight mounts that typically sit from the bolt/firing mechanism, the optic mount on the Scout is specifically designed for long eye relief scopes / Magnified Optics that feature an eye relief of at least four inches to ensure that the user experiences the least amount of parallax possible when aiming. There are several reasons as to why having your optic mounted further forward can be beneficial, however as we're talking Airsoft and not live game hunting and or hostile target elimination, there are two factors within Airsoft use that make the mounting position a good choice.

  1. Peripherals - Maintain a clear visual of your surroundings that are usually otherwise blocked by your optic.
  2. It looks cool.

Having your optic mounted so far forward allows you visual access to your peripherals and surroundings that are otherwise blocked when your optic is mounted further back, not to mention having something that looks a little bit different and out there is always gonna' get a second glance at your next skirmish. With the 20mm Optic rail providing the option of a forward or rear mount, this also allows you to use a red dot sight or holographic sight should you wish to go Close Quarter Bolt Action Crazy! This simply adds to the versatility and proves that the ASG Steyr Scout is a rifle that can be truly adapted to suit your combat scenario.

The Scout also features a pretty clever integrated Bipod too, which is nicely tucked away into the body so much so that you probably wouldn't even notice it were there! You can access the Bipod via a small release lever on the underside of the body, simply press the release and the bipod legs will pop out, you can then position the legs vertically and rest your rifle on whatever surface or ledge you desire. Do note that when you're folding the Bipod back into place it certainly does feel like you're breaking something, and you will hear a click or two but not to worry, this is just the design, granted if the bipod is all of a sudden no longer attached to the gun after a loud click, maybe somethings wrong.

Internally, this rifle is upgraded and rated to handle M190 springs, enabling it to shoot a maximum of 625 fps! Obviously, this is way too hot for skirmishing in the UK but is a testament to the high-grade internal components used by ASG in the Steyr Scout. The internals features a Steel 9mm spring guide and reinforced trigger sears, ensuring the setup can handle high velocity if you decide to upgrade the spring. The high-volume steel cylinder features a silent cylinder head, and within there is a piston head with an airbrake and a metal cylinder with rotating rings, ensuring your set-up runs as quiet and smooth as it can be without a suppressor. The bolt pull on this rifle is remarkably smooth and light for a rifle shooting above 400fps, this being down to the precision 'Modify' internals, a brand known to Airsoft snipers as the absolute cream of the crop. As mentioned previously, the HOP unit features dual adjustment, meaning you can set the sliders beneath the bipod and fine-tune the TDC adjustment screw to achieve the absolute most efficient trajectory possible. The HOP pre-installed is optimized for 0.36g BBs or higher, making this a true sniper rifle out of the box. This allows the user to take advantage of some of the target grade BBs available in higher weights and experience the true potential within the Scout.

Simple, versatile and dependable, the Steyr Scout is a must-have for any player looking to broaden their Airsoft bolt action collection.
